This story will simply blow you away. It's an absolute understatement to call it a thriller. While it definitely is that, the delicate nuances of the story will make you delve into your own psyche and find emotions you might not have known you had. I was fortunate enough to be the one of the first readers, while the book was still in its developmental stage, and I simply couldn't put it down. Mesmerizing? Thought-provoking? Emotional roller-coaster? Yes, yes, and yes. This is a must read
More than a thriller! This book is a must read for anyone interested in thrillers or mysteries, yes, but I would recommend it for those who enjoy a good character study as well. A thrilling twist on the classic hero's journey; David has been involved in a terrible accident, and as he convalesces in a remote hospital during a blizzard, he comes face to face with his demons and he must fight to make peace with choices he has made. It's not what you expect at all - and I found that I couldn't read fast enough. Without giving anything away, I will say that David is my favorite kind of hero. He is flawed and imperfect, and he is carrying things from his past like we all do--as he struggles to hold on to his sanity and grip on reality, he comes close to losing everything. I found David's journey to be very moving and even relatable, something you may not expect from a thriller. I was moved to tears at the end, touched at the culmination of David's story. I find that's something John does well--he writes so that the entire story becomes a metaphor, and that's not easy to do.I loved it. READ IT!!
This book terrified me, but only in the best way! I share similar medical fears with the protagonist and John Mulhall captured those feelings so accurately. But John's imagination goes way beyond ordinary fear and he has crafted an engaging, thought-provoking, horrifying, yet thoroughly entertaining story!
